WORKSHOP ZONE 1: OPENGUNE
AS/400 workshop: From zero to advanced system administration
Language: Spanish
Speaker: Urtzi Larrieta Alvarez
Company: ECNA Informática
Description of the workshop:
This training workshop, which will take almost a whole day, will be held in two phases: In the morning, we’ll look at the history, architecture and introduction to the administration of IBM i systems (previously known as IBM AS/400), explaining their internal functioning, interesting facts, the structure of the operating system, DB2/400, CL language, interactive and Batch processes, storage management, sub-systems, etc., teaching participants how to manage these systems. In the afternoon, I’ll give an advanced course on managing these systems (maintenance, PTFs, machine-produced errors, control and opening of incidences, etc.).
What audience does it address?
Everyone who likes the development of these architectures and their systems. As nobody currently knows how to develop in AS/400, you can leave your CV to be included in a recruitment process due to the urgent need for hiring people with this type of professional background. Following the workshop, if you decide you like the architecture and you’d like to work with this type of system, then this is your chance.
Brief Speaker CV:
Passionate about IBM mainframe systems and working with this type of architecture for over 10 years, I have long been trying to raise awareness of these obscurantist infrastructures that still handle more than 95% of the world's economic data.

Speaker: Mikel Garcia de Andoin
Company: Department of physical chemistry UPV/EHU, EHU Quantum Center and Tecnalia
Description of the workshop:
This workshop will look at some of the concepts mentioned in the previous talk and will provide an introduction to working with quantum algorithms. The idea is that anyone can follow this workshop step by step and get a basic feeling for what is going on.
- We’ll start by familiarising ourselves with the building blocks of quantum computing, gates and measurements.
- Using easy examples, we’ll create a basic programme. With this programme, we can visualise and play with complicated concepts such as entanglement and superposition.
- We’ll finish by looking at how these algorithms are used in real hardware, and we’ll explain some of the associated problems.
What audience does it address?
The workshop is aimed at the general public, even if they only have basic programming skills, as we will be able to use a GUI to create the quantum circuits. However, the workshop is also geared to those individuals who have knowledge of Python. For those who are even more computer-savvy, it will be a first point of contact with quantum computing via user-friendly language.

What is machine learning and how can we use it to increase the security of our transactions?
Places are limited, so it is required to register here.
Language: Spanish
Speaker: Borja Balparda
Company: Data Value Management
Description of the workshop:
Nowadays, there is great concern about the threats we receive within our virtual environment, and this has led both individuals and companies to invest more and more in cybersecurity.
One of the great challenges we face is the proliferation of new attacks emerging at a dizzying pace. In the past, an antivirus that was updated once a year and responded to previously identified threats was usually sufficient.
However, this is no longer good enough and in order to have an effective system that prevents most attacks, you need a system that identifies threats that are unknown until they occur, requiring a combination of artificial intelligence and predictive systems.
This workshop will therefore show how machine learning and artificial intelligence can be used to prevent fraud in credit card transactions, one of the great challenges we face with increased online purchases.
In addition, we’ll also talk about the potential of these methodologies to detect accounting inconsistencies in companies.
Programme
The following ideas will be explained during the workshop:
- Basic data analysis concepts.
- Conceptual machine learning map.
- Case study: Detecting fraudulent transactions using credit cards.
- Presentation of the "Zeroseeker" platform. A final example using a case study where data analysis techniques can detect accounting inconsistencies in companies.
What audience does it address?
The workshop is aimed at anyone who is interested in a global vision of machine learning models as well as their possible uses, both at a general level and specifically for the detection of fraudulent transactions. You will not need programming knowledge to follow the workshop, as the analysis of the results will take up a large part, but it will aid understanding.
Brief Speaker CV:
Borja Balparda has a PhD in econometrics (data analysis) and is a lecturer at the University of Navarra, where he teaches at the Faculty of Economics (data analysis with R) and on the Master in Big Data. He is also CEO and data scientist at Data Value Management, a start-up specialising in data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Description of the workshop:
Artificial intelligence resonates with us as the solution to all current problems in the short-term, but what is real and what is fiction? Rural Citizen - collective intelligence as the driver behind a new rural life
Places are limited, so it is required to register here.
Language: Spanish
Speaker: Ivan del Caz
Company: BIKOnsulting, S. Coop.
Description of the workshop:
This talk will show how any profession can be carried out from a rural setting these days thanks to current connectivity improvements.
Rural Citizen was created to drive local and global ecosystems that help to activate rural areas using collective intelligence and collaboration.
We want to connect the rural world and show it as it is: a land of challenges, opportunities and encounters, a place to live together and share experiences. We want people's relationship with the rural environment to evolve creatively, building a new way for cities and villages to coexist. We need to address this topic from a positive perspective and make things happen.
We have a dedicated server on Discord, Rural Citizen Pro; it is a unique space for networking, education and information. We have a single platform that offers specialised, quality services and is constantly updated with interesting content for this living community: theme-based talks, video-conference rooms, provincial ecosystems, news, videos, a repository of grants and subsidies, an archive, an agenda of activities and an urban and rural co-working network with special offers for members.
What audience does it address?
The general public.
Brief Speaker CV:
I enjoy exploring, innovating and advising (public and private) institutions and organisations on projects based on new sustainable strategies (circular and collaborative economy, common good, society, solidarity, ethical finance, B Corp, etc.) and universal values (solidarity, social justice, human dignity, participation and respect for the environment, etc.) by focusing on an economic and political model that serves the people and the planet.
I am passionate about each project, in order to humbly inspire other organisations to be part of the change through my actions. I have been involved in transformative projects in different countries ranging from territories to small businesses, including national and multinational organisations and institutions in sectors as diverse as industry, agriculture, banking, fashion, food, tourism and the third sector.
I am now focusing on helping to reverse the exodus from rural to urban areas and changing the narrative of the rural world towards a more positive, constructive and innovative vision that fills our villages with opportunities. All this thanks to the RURAL CITIZEN 2030 initiative.
I am a partner and co-founder at BIKOnsulting, a cooperative for the common good.
I have a Master's degree in marketing and business management from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) and a diploma in marketing from the Instituto de Marketing del País Vasco (I.M.P.V.). I’m a qualified consultant in ethical and socially responsible management by Forética.
